Flexible study routes to the CGMA designation

More than one learning pathway. Same curriculum and exams. Same prestigious accomplishment.

More than one pathway puts the power in your hands.

CIMA offers flexibility and choice so whether you are a student or working professional, a graduate or a career changer, you can study at a pace that fits your lifestyle.

Employers trust CIMA, and the value of the CGMA® designation is globally recognised. It’s true that CIMA’s CGMA Professional Qualification is rigorous. You will work hard. And you will be a solid contender in the job market.

CIMA students must meet the entry requirements and can begin the CGMA syllabus at any of the three levels — Operational, Management, or Strategic. A student’s entry point is based on prior experience or education.

To complete the professional qualification, students must study for and pass the professional-level assessments, culminating in the Strategic Level Case Study Exam, and must finish three years of relant practical experience, which can be done before, during, and/or after studies.

The syllabus, assessments, and practical experience requirements ensure CGMA-qualified members are competent in essential accouning and finance skills and have advanced business acumen.

As you progress through the CGMA syllabus, your critical thinking ability and analytical skills will become stronger. Your ability to understand data and mitigate risks through real-world case studies will be heightened.

Once you’ve achieved the CGMA designation, you will feel confident and prepared for a role in finance — in the private or public sector, in small businesses or multinationals.

How to choose the right study route?

Your personal preferences will guide your decision.

The CGMA Finance Leadership Program

With the CGMA FLP, learning materials and assessments are presented in an online learning platform. Knowledge assessments are completed throughout the Operational, Management, and Strategic Levels, and each level concludes with a case study exam. CIMA students can subscribe at any time of the year for a 1-, 2-, or 3-year subscription. The CGMA FLP allows you to complete the professional qualification in 1–3 years.

In addition to your contact details — phone number, email, and address — you’ll be asked to provide the following details, as applicable:

  • Current employment details
  • Previously received qualifications

And don’t worry, you can still move forwards in the registration process if certain prompts do not apply to you.
