06 Feb 2023
Attending university is one way to learn more about accounting, finance, and business. But it’s not the only way to work towards your career goals. CIMA’s Apprenticeships are a great way to gain professional accounting experience on the way to becoming eligible to apply for CIMA’s CGMA® Professional Qualification. They provide on-the-job training that you can’t get at university and will help you go further in management accounting.

CIMA’s Apprenticeships are a pathway to learn whilst working

With the help of CIMA’s Apprenticeships Guide, you’ll go through a unique process to figure out

  • If an accounting apprenticeship is right for you
  • Where to look for an apprenticeship
  • How to talk to your employer about doing one

It’s a great option if you have little time or money for university. Our guide contains all the information you need to get started, such as choosing the right apprenticeship level for you:

Level 4 CIMA Professional Accounting Technician Apprenticeship

The CGMA Professional Qualification begins with the Certificate in Business Accounting. This level is excellent for high school graduates and career-changers seeking to work in business and finance. It’s the equivalent to the first year of a university degree, and apprentices will study and work full time whilst learning from business and finance professionals.

Level 7 Accountancy/Taxation Professional Apprenticeship

The Accountancy/Taxation Professional Apprenticeship includes full-time employment in finance. Level 7 is equivalent to a master’s degree, and apprentices start studying for the CGMA Professional Qualification immediately — perfect for working finance professionals.

Getting an apprenticeship can be a little tricky, but CIMA’s Apprenticeships Guide can help you apply for, schedule, and prepare for interviews on the road to landing your apprenticeship. CIMA is here to support you, so no worries about going through the process alone.

After you get your apprenticeship, our guide can still be a helpful resource whilst you are making progress. You can find invaluable advice based on real-world experiences from other successful graduates who started out like you and have gone on to be at the top of their field.
